Warm in winter, cool in summer
The wool is a product from our pastures with 1001 benefits. It's healthy, comfortable, natural . It's a high-end quality product.
Wool grows on grass. What could be simpler than sun, water, grass and a sheep… to make a natural fiber more sophisticated and more evolved than any fiber that man has ever managed to create.
If you look at a wool fiber under a microscope, you will see that its surface is made up of overlapping scales. It is this natural biological structure that provides the best insulation and comfort.
A source of unrivaled comfort in all seasons, an excellent thermal insulator, it protects against both heat and cold.
Wool is therefore perfectly suited not only for winter duvets but also for light summer duvets and much more comfortable than synthetic duvets.
Aren't sheep found in every climate?
In the high mountains as in the desert!
Wool is also the thermo regulator of your nights for unparalleled well-being .
It absorbs moisture and perspiration which allows your body to maintain an optimal comfort temperature.
As a completely natural fibre, wool is able to absorb about 30% of its weight in water without feeling damp. It then slowly wicks away this moisture. This natural regulation helps prevent “thermal shock” caused by the cooling of perspiration on the skin.
It is scientifically proven that good, restful sleep is necessary for a healthy and vibrant life.
Wool bedding provides you with quality sleep.
What is sleep?
Sleep is classified into stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to its increasing depth. The REM stage corresponds to dreaming.
The normal pattern consists of periods of deep sleep (stages 3 and 4) and periods of dreaming punctuated by periods of lighter sleep and brief awakenings.
Although this pattern is quite stable, the duration of deep sleep and dream periods can be disrupted by unfavorable factors in the sleeper's environment. This can cause a serious deterioration in sleep quality.
How does it work?
The human body is made up of more than 75% water. We lose 500 ml of water every day through the respiratory system and sweating. A considerable amount of this moisture is lost during sleep.
Why sleep in wool?
Sleeping in wool may increase the amount of REM sleep. A wool duvet can provide a 25% increase in stage 4.
Wool bedding leads to better cooling of the skin temperature, in harmony with the natural biological rhythm (with polyester, the skin temperature increases) thanks to the natural moisture absorption properties of wool. Result: we sweat less, we lose less water. What is lost is largely reabsorbed by the wool, so it is less humid under a wool duvet.
In addition, studies conducted by the Polytechnic of Wales (ergonomics unit) have shown a lower heart rate and more favorable microclimate conditions near the skin in subjects sleeping with a wool duvet, unlike those sleeping with a synthetic duvet.
WOOL , A HIGH-PERFORMANCE FIBER WITH UNIQUE QUALITIES
Wool has evolved, and so has its treatment. Remember our grandmothers' wool blankets? Were they "itchy"? Were they stiff and heavy? Forget them! Technology has transformed them into light, soft, supple and puffy duvets. It is even possible, today, to make them machine washable!
How does it work?
A special high-tech process called "needling" makes it possible to obtain a woolen blanket that is both light and dense by weaving the wool horizontally and vertically with long needles. The woolen blanket thus formed is then placed and held in its silky cotton satin cover by a stitching designed to maintain good loft and avoid the formation of "empty" areas.
Why wool? Why not feathers?
Thanks to the crimped structure and elasticity of the wool fiber, the wool duvet retains its shape and spring longer than the feather duvet. The filling of the duvet will always remain homogeneous and without cold spots.
Additionally, a wool duvet will age much better than a feather duvet, as there will be no dust formation (a source of mites) due to the inevitable wear of the feathers through friction.
Taking care of a sheep also means shearing its wool once a year, it is obvious and necessary. Did you know that geese feathers are plucked from living animals? Wool is also ethical.
A sheep, sun, water and grass
Wool is naturally renewable, sustainable and biodegradable. It has a low ecological footprint. Lanado uses wool from our Belgian pastures.
