It is scientifically proven that good, restful sleep is necessary for a healthy and vibrant life.
Wool bedding provides you with quality sleep.
What is sleep?
Sleep is classified into stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to its increasing depth. The REM stage corresponds to dreaming.
The normal pattern consists of periods of deep sleep (stages 3 and 4) and periods of dreaming punctuated by periods of lighter sleep and brief awakenings.
Although this pattern is quite stable, the duration of deep sleep and dream periods can be disrupted by unfavorable factors in the sleeper's environment. This can cause a serious deterioration in sleep quality.
How does it work?
The human body is made up of more than 75% water. We lose 500 ml of water every day through the respiratory system and sweating. A considerable amount of this moisture is lost during sleep.
Why sleep in wool?
Sleeping in wool may increase the amount of REM sleep. A wool duvet can provide a 25% increase in stage 4.
Wool bedding leads to better cooling of the skin temperature, in harmony with the natural biological rhythm (with polyester, the skin temperature increases) thanks to the natural moisture absorption properties of wool. Result: we sweat less, we lose less water. What is lost is largely reabsorbed by the wool, so it is less humid under a wool duvet.
In addition, studies conducted by the Polytechnic of Wales (Ergonomics Unit) have shown a lower heart rate and more favorable microclimate conditions near the skin in subjects sleeping with a wool duvet, as opposed to those sleeping with a polyester duvet.
