What size duvet should you choose for your mattress?
Two simple rules: allow 50 to 100 cm more than the width of your mattress. And if you (or your partner) are taller than 1m85, choose a length of at least 220 cm.
For a 90x190 cm mattress:
- Go for a 140x200 cm duvet, giving a 25 cm drop on each side.
For a 90×200 cm mattress:
- 140×200 cm: the classic 25 cm drop on each side.
- 140×220 cm: the same drop, with 20 cm of extra length, recommended if you are taller than 1m85.
For a 140x190 cm mattress:
- 200x200 cm: for a 30 cm drop, ideal if you like a light duvet around the bed.
- 240x220 cm: for a generous 50 cm drop, perfect in most cases (95%).
For a 140x200 cm mattress:
- 200x200 cm: for a 30 cm drop, ideal for a minimalist look.
- 200×220 cm : the 30 cm drop with a length suited to tall sleepers.
- 240x220 cm: for a more enveloping 50 cm drop, recommended in most cases.
For a 160x200 cm mattress:
- 240x220 cm: for a balanced 40 cm drop, suitable for 95% of set-ups.
- 260×220 cm: a generous 50 cm drop in standard length, an alternative to 260×240 if you prefer less fabric at the foot of the bed.
- 260x240 cm: for a wider 50 cm drop, ideal if you like to be well wrapped up.
For a 180x200 cm mattress:
- 260x240 cm: for a comfortable 40 cm drop, keeping your bed perfectly dressed.
Sharing a bed and one of you hogs the duvet? Go one size up. It is the simplest fix for nights of negotiation. And if the debate is really serious, the You & Me duvet (two fillings in one) is made for exactly that.
