Sleeping in the wool of our sheep: a local and ethical adventure

Dormir dans la laine de nos moutons : une aventure locale et éthique - Lanado

100% PURE BELGIAN WOOL

Lanado is above all a story of terroir and know-how. We value the wool of our Belgian sheep, a noble and natural material, to create high-end bedding products, light, puffy, and incredibly comfortable.

A local and expert production chain

  1. Passionate breeders
Our breeders, spread across Belgium, take care of their herds to guarantee wool of the best quality.

  2. Meticulous sorting and processing
The wool is collected, sorted and selected by DBCWool, a wool specialist based in Verviers, the historic centre of wool.

  3. A respectful wash
Treated by Traitex , the last industrial washhouse in Europe, the wool is washed thoroughly while respecting the environment thanks to processes that comply with European standards.

  4. Modern innovations
To meet current needs, the wool is made machine washable and treated against dust mites thanks to the expertise of Van Riel , located in Temse.

  5. A meticulous confection
The products are manufactured with neighboring partners, who guarantee impeccable quality.

A story of rebirth

Lanado is also the realization of a vision: to promote a local resource that is often neglected and to show that wool can compete with the best materials on the high-end bedding market.

The role of DBCWool

Since 1938, DBCWool has been working in Verviers to preserve and modernize the wool industry. Dominique Blandiaux, one of its directors, initiated a project to promote wool locally in 2010, in response to alarming findings:

  • A wool often considered waste.
  • A massive export to Asia, to the detriment of local industry.
  • A lack of network and recognition for Belgian breeders.

A local, sustainable and fair sector

DBCWool has organised a structured collection in Wallonia, bringing together more than 300 breeders and shearers. Thanks to strict specifications and technical advice, category A wool is now collected to produce Lanado items.

  • Category A : white, clean and fluffy wool, used for finished products.
  • Category B to D : lower quality wool, intended for other uses such as insulation.

Breeders whose wool is used for Lanado products receive a fair bonus , rewarding their commitment to quality wool.

A constantly evolving range

Since the launch of the first duvets made from 100% pure Belgian wool, Lanado has continued to innovate:

  • Pillows, mattress toppers and other bedding products.
  • Physical points of sale and e-commerce to meet all demands.
  • Recognized certifications, such as Oeko-Tex 100 and Woolmark , guaranteeing pure wool, without harmful substances.
