Wool has evolved, and so has its treatment. Remember our grandmothers' wool blankets? Were they "itchy"? Were they stiff and heavy? Forget them! Technology has transformed them into light, soft, supple and puffy duvets. It is even possible, today, to make them machine washable!
How does it work?
A special high-tech process called needling makes it possible to obtain a woolen blanket that is both light and dense by weaving the wool horizontally and vertically with long needles. The woolen blanket thus formed is then placed and held in its silky cotton satin cover by a stitching designed to maintain good loft and avoid the formation of "empty" areas.
Why wool? Why not feathers?
Thanks to the crimped structure and elasticity of the wool fiber, the wool duvet retains its shape and spring longer than the feather duvet. The filling of the duvet will always remain homogeneous and without cold spots.
Additionally, a wool duvet will age much better than a feather duvet, as there will be no dust formation (a source of mites) due to the inevitable wear of the feathers through friction.
Taking care of a sheep also means shearing its wool once a year, it is obvious and necessary. Did you know that geese feathers are plucked from living animals? Wool is also ethical.
